Fianlly microsoft has got some brains! IE 7 is finally available (just downloaded it as an upgrade last week) with tabs. God knows what took them so long to adaopt something which has been present for so long in Opera and Firefox! I’ve not tested it extensively – being mostly a Linux user now – since when I come on Windows, Firefox has so many beautiful plugins that I’ve installed that I’d b lost without them on the web. So can’t give any feedback on it for now.

This might be overambitious as title but I can’t think of another way of saying it right now!
Whenever I have to set up a new PC, I always install 2 OS – Windows and linux. Windows – can’t play games without it (and Maya PLE does not work on Linux ;( )! Linux – perfect working enviroenmnet that’s smooth and sleek (rarely crashes, fast, no virus, all the programming tools you need,… ). Any comments would be most welcome.
So the meat:
- Windows gets installed on a big NTFS partitions that can support it + all programs you’ll have to install. That will typically be Drive C.
- Then drives D, E (or any other hard disks that you have) as Fat 32 partitions to ensure perfect read/write with most Linux distros. This is where u need to keep all your data; e.g. D – your documents, E – your music and films
- Finally a last part for Linux (swap, boot and root) where u’ll install your perferred Linux distro. Try not to save things in the “home” directory of Linux but rather in the D drive meant for the documents.
The disadvantages – fewer of them; easier to write:) :
If you are a noob, intalling Linux might be a hard the first time + u’ll need to invest a min of 5 GB for Linux that u’ll waste if you won’t ever use Linux.
The advantages:
If you ever need to reformat windows, just do it, no back up required (make sure you format only drive C during installation though). U’ll only have to re-install your programs after. Similarly, u want to try another linux distro, no probs, just install it over your current Linux distro. Well, even if you do not plan to use Linux, I’d advise you to have it installed since if you ever get bogged by a Windows Virus or Windows simply won’t boot on a particular day (remember Murphy’s law), all your data will be available through Linux! Linux will be your safety net and I assure you that just for that, it’s worth the hassle of installing it!
Also, with Linux around, u’ll be pirating less software!
Just discovered this anime last week -its name attracted by attention. Well Hellsing is a British organisation that exterminates vampires. Well yes, the story takes place in Englas. The hellsing organisation is led by Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing and the main asset of the organisation is a vampire, Alucard, that holds in very low respects other vampires – why is Alucard bound to the Hellsing organisation, we do not know!
Alucard has “an apprentice” – Seras Victoria (aka Police girl) who is very cute that finds it hard to accept that she has turned into a vampire and has to drink blood.
If u’ve liked Berserk and Blood+, I guess that u’ll find this one nice too.
Is there life after death? All religions advocate life after death either in the form of heaven or reincarnation. Yet, why is there nothing after death?
Just imagine: you die and that’s it. There’s nothing after that – you just have your 70 years to be alive and after that you vanish forever! Scary isn’t it. Yes it is and for us humans, with our overinflated ego, this is nearly impossible to accept – “logically, it can’t all end there!!!” or so they say. But it is a possiblilty as life after death is another.
I’m not saying that there is nothing after death but the promise of life after death is a very interesting concept adopted by most religions: You have to be good in this short life that’s yours on earth else you will suffer eternal torment in hell or be reincarnated as a flea-infested dog! What better mechanism is there to make people behave properly? Well there’s the law but the law cannot see everything. So for what the law cannot see, you will eventually be punished by eternal suffering!
What better control mechanism is there? I can’t see any
. So even if life after death does not exist, saying that is does makes an excellent control mechanism.
Being a big fan of Frozen Throne (not the perfect gamer though) I’ve decided to have a go at playing the Frozen Throne on the Internet.
First, had a big patch 48 MB patch to download. No way I would download that at home, so got it from someone. Next, how would the gameplay be like? 64 K is small and Nomad is infamous for having intermittent connection! Yet, that would not discourage me.
So, tried to connect to the Europe area (Northend) … it worked. Now connect to a game … it works … starting … huge lags … I get ripped apart (that was painful – getting beaten while your game is frozen n u can’t do a thing). Yet, late at night the connection improved and “wins” started coming in.
My current stats are very poor; hopefully they’ll improve someday (the loss streak is only 5 now compared to 11 the first time i played
)

IC3 stands for Internet and Computing Core Certification is a very nice and ambitious programme launched by the NCB with support of the Mauritian Government. The aim is to train 400 000 people in 3 years. Given that there are about 1.2 million people on the island, this represents a third of the population.
However, is it feasible? Do we need that many people trained in ICT?
Honestly I don’t know is my answer to both questions but what I know is that if this is acheived, It’s going to be something really really great. People won’t become more efficient just by knowing IT – far from that – but making all these people aware of a new technology is bound to put some ideas in the minds of a tiny percentage of those being trained and this is what might spark a small IT revolution. We just need 1 or 2 guys to start a revolution.
Am I being over optimistic about the whole of it? Maybe yes. But if it’s done properly, it’s gone to have some beneficial consequences. So lets’ wait and see.

I’ve just downloaded Edubuntu two days ago and I’m trying it before I release it my cousin. Did not hear a lot about it except that it’s the educational version of ubuntu.
First impressions: Really really great!!! Never imagined u could get all that for free! It’s loaded with educational software and it’s ideal for kids (I would say 4-9 years old). So if u have some little brothers or sisters out there wanting to use the PC, install Edubuntu. It could very easily become the de facto standard OS in pre-primary and primary school.
