God’s Stuff Cartoon has for some time now been publised weekly in L’Express and I was pleasantly surprised to see the book released some weeks ago.
So What’s God’s stuff?
It’s a collection of cartoons from Titane Laurent that looks at the Bible “through the eyes of an imaginative and plucky little girl” and basically it’s a “bouffe d’air frais”. Given my love of cartoons, I’ll sooner than later accquire this book and comments are to be expected soon.

The new Gundam is out!

I’ve only seen the first two episodes and it might be a bit too early for me to comment but if it persues that line, it seems that it will be a tradtional Gundam story which hopefully it won’t be. Apart from that, graphically it is very nice.
Anyway, here’s an outline that I got from anime news network:
“It is the year A.D. 2307. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (formerly United States of America), the Human Reform League (Russia, China and India) and the Advanced European Union. However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the other various factions.”

Ubuntu 8.04 – Hardy Heron has for some sometime now been announced and it will be released in April 2008 and what’s really nice is that it’s going to be the next Long Term Support provided by the Ubuntu team.
Ubuntu is a really amazing Linux distribution: it’s east to use, lots of software are available and we get a new release every 6 months – I’m too lazy to upgrade each time though.
So why am I so excited about a release that’s coming in 6 months time?
Well I’m still with Dapper, the previous LTS, coz it’s so stable and once properly configured it’s extremely smooth to use – the only hic is I’m still with Firefox 1.5. The new LTS will give me the opportunity to move to another very stable OS that is going to last me years and get the latest software: probably KDE 4 + lots of other goodies
In the mean time, Gutsy Gibbon is coming out on the 18th of October – good install.

Update:
Gutsy Gibbon seems to be a very fine release: finally we have read-write access to NTFS drives and of course better support for hardware.
KDE 4.0 Beta 3 has been released and it look gorgeeeouuusssssss!
Now just imagine the next LTS building on Gutsy + having KDE 4 by default. Mouth watering!
Hello Mauritians I’ve got some devastating news! Music is not restricted to what you hear on Mauritian radios, in other words, Music does not stop at Shakira, Britney Spears, Boys Band, Fireball … Indeed there is real Music as well, music that is worth listening to and music that sell despite not featuring sexy girls scantily dressed in their music videos.
Today I’d like to talk about a cute girl that you’ve probably never heard of: Katie Melua

Katie is a singer that I discovered while I was in UK thanks to BBC Radio2; at some point, I was hearing her every morning on the radio. At that time, she was releasing her first album: Call off the Search. In 2005, she went on to release her second album Piece by Piece which again proved to be a massive hit especially in the UK. Pictures is the third album that she has recently released.
Of the three, I still prefer the first one but I’ve still to listen to the second one completely.
“God created man in His own image” – Genesis, Bible.

Did God create man to his own or is it just the reverse? Let’s have a look at the characteristics of God, it’s very strangely to what we would want him to be. Man’s greatest fears are: Loneliness, sickness, death and all that is taken care of by God
- God Characteristics:
- We don’t like being alone: God is omnipresent (even when no one is with us) and is with us at all times; he never let’s us down
- We want some comfort especially through difficult times: God is always with us and will help us when we are in trouble
- We want to be forgiven for what wrong we have done and be able to start again with a clean slate: God forgives
- We don’t want things to end when we die – humans fear Death: God never gives up on us even when we die; instead we are brought closer to God, in paradise
- We don’t like unfairness: God sees all and punishes unfairness
Even more, even God’s traits seem very similar to us:
- God’s traits:
- You need to worship God – if God is so strong, remember he created the universe, does he need worshipping. That’s more like “Small Gods”of Terry Pratchett
- You should believe in only one God – oddly similar to man’s ego

I don’t intend to disprove (or prove) the existence of God through this post. If it could be proved or disproved, other would have proved or disproved it a long time ago. I’m just presenting a few facts which seem funny/weird and seem to prove just the opposite that the Bible (or other book says). It’s far from complete and it might even seem biased – agnostic perspective.
Furthermore we would no longer need to believe in the existence of God if we could prove it. We need to believe because there is no absolute proof that it exists.
So believing or not believing should never be imposed on anyone!

It’s becoming a pain now: sometimes I send text messages and and I’m waiting for an answer that … never comes. Are my recipients too busy to text me or they just don’t care to reply? Might be but the real problem, in my case, was that the text mesages I thought I was sending were never sent!
Well, occasionally I might have forgot to press ’send’ – blame me but it happened yesterday that I had used up all my credits (I wasn’t aware of that) and did not get any feedback saying: No money dude, get some money if you want to send messages! While you get feedback when trying to call, there’s just a void for text messages it seems (or I failed to notice any which is still bad!!!).
Could it be specific to my network or is it a real HCI (Human Computer Interaction) issue with text messages that need to be addressed?
I finally managed to see Memories of Nobody and oh God it was a long wait! Indeed the movie came out in December last year and it’s only 10 months later that I finally saw it. So was it worth the wait? Yep, well worth it: one and a half hour of action packed adventure. Here’s how it starts:

Ichigo and Rukia are about their usual business (chasing hollows here and there) when suddenly they notice some strange hollow activity. They rush there and notice strange white hollows drifting aimlessly. In the midst of this, a cute shinigami, Senna, appears and with her Zanpaktu quickly dispathces the ghosts. These ghosts are called blanks and they live between the living world and the soul society. They are memory-less beings in search of their … memories.
Then it turns into the tradional revenge story (similar to the bounto arc): a group of exiles want to use to blanks to get their revenge on Soul Society who outcast them a long time back and for that, they need the memory of the blanks (the memory bank) and the blanks themselves.

The story is a classic one – fights, emotion, funny moments – but we don’t often get to see so many captains fighting. So it’s lots of fun.

Sometime back, it was announced that we would change bank notes. That’s common practice but the new thing this time is that we are going to have a contest to choose the best design for the bank notes. A panel of artists will choose the best design and the public will also have its say. Personally I think this is great but what I fear is what comes next.
Indeed all our bank notes are graced with the face of a “historical” person … ehhhhh … all politicians!!! While I have nothing against politicians, our history is not only about politicians! These guys at some point I guess “fought”(this is what everyone says) for us but what about artists, sportsmen, scientists, …? I agree we have few of them but some are very famous.
For example, how many know that Charles-Edouard Brown Sequard is a world famous scientist – it’s not just the name of a mental hospital in Beau-Bassin!
Anyway I guess that all I said will basically be in vain! It’s going to be all about politicians yet again and one from each ethnic group while we are at it
