GLUI provides a simple and fast way of creating basic interfaces for OpenGL programs in C++ (for more advanced stuff, I’d recommend QT). I’ve tried the latest version of GLUI (v 2.35) on Linux and it works like a charm but the same code (with the windows library of course) refused to work on Windows with Visual C++ 6.0
I got stuck with loads of linking error in Visual C++ and it just wouldn’t work:
error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: class GLUI_Button * ..........
Though in the end I managed to reduce the errors, it still wouldn’t work: why, why, whyyyyyyyyyyyy
Linking the project with an older version of the GLUI library however did work. So am i doing something wrong? Even google didn’t manage to help me out this time
Also I’m not the only one concerned it seems, click here for more.
An extract of an article from Le Mauricien of Thursday 8 November 2007:

While I agree that it’s not ok for someone to be taking the mickey out of our Prime Minister, I think that the decision to censor the site is totally out of proportion; why is it that we could not access the site while facebook was “removing” the profile? Moreover, what if facebook had not removed the profile, would we have been banned from using facebook in Mauritius? Come on people!!!
Also, I’d like to point out that it’s not only Navin Ramgoolam concerned but there’s also the President of the Republic of Mauritius (who I think is above the Prime Minister in the Mauritian political hierarchy), the leader of the Opposition and the Minister of Culture (proof of all this below) and the profiles of especially the president and the Minister of Culture look far from being genuine!

So why is it that only the profile of the Prime Minister has been “removed”? Or are we are going to be banned from facebook for some more days while these profiles as well are taken care of!
Anyway it’s bound to cause a buzz in the blogosphere and it has already started: Avinash, Eddy, …
Something special, just for Halloween.
Out of the anime I’ve seen in the past two years, Hellsing and Berserk are definitely among the top ten. Many people would rate these two as bloody, gory horror anime and I cannot argue with that. However, I feel that these anime didn’t have blood gushing around just for the sake of showing blood oozing out in all directions. Both Hellsing and Berserk had a story and blood and violence was just a necessary part of it (a la Kill Bill) and they both firt with the supernatural in their storyline.
Hellsing

Hellsing is the name of an organisation that protects England from hell creatures like ghouls, vampires, werewolves,… At the head of the organisation is Sir Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing and Alucard (note that it’s Dracula spelled backwards) is the their most powerful weapon. Alucard is a vampire, a very old – 1400 years old, he is said to be Dralula – and powerful one. He basically despises wannbe vampires and quickly dispatches them. During the story, he develops a liking for Seras Victoria, a human girl that Alucard turns into a vampire to save her from dying.
Berserk

The anime follows Gatsu, an immensely powerful man who is in the Band of the Hawk. The latter is an army founded by Griffith, skilled swordsman and a talented general and “politician”. The third major character in the story is Casca, a woman soldier tralling with them. In the anime, Gatsu is helping Griffith fight wars and acheive recognition and all the battles are very violent. The manga goes much further than the anime.

Another anime which I enjoyed as a kid was Fist of the northern star which as far as I remmeber was quite bloody as well (it took place in a mad max sort of world) and claymore which I saw recently was nice too.

On any normal day, I’m most likely to use at least 2 to 3 different PCs and on these PCs I can either boot on Linux or Windows which means that I have 6 different platforms (Fiesty, Dapper, OpenSuse 10.3, Windows 2000 -2 machines and Windows Media Centre) on which I’m likely to browse the web.Since most data is now stored on the web this doesn’t pose any major problem but I still have my bookmarks locally on each of these machines – going to delicious each time, on my crappy Internet connection, is a pain and so I endup having different bookmarks on the diffrent PCs. So how do I do when I need a page which I bookmarked at work and I’m at home?
Foxmarks
Foxmarks is a nice little extension (Add-on) to firefox that allows you to sync your bookmarks. As soon as you’ve created an account, your bookmarks will be uploaded on the foxmarks server and as soon as the extension is installed on another machine, it will allow you to sync you bookmarks. The end result is sync bookmarks on all machines.
Foxmarks + del.icio.us (I’m just thinking aloud here)
So since Foxmarks and del.icio.us seem to work so well, why not integrate these two systems. del.icio.us allows you to tag pages which bookmarks do not but an extension which modifies the bookmark abilities of your browser could do the trick and ask you for tags when a page is bookmarked. Sync your foxmark and del.icio.us account could prove a winning combination.

Sometime back I finally moved to My T from Nomad. Basically I’m trading mobility for hight speed but we can’t get everything in life! Anyway, by moving to My T, I did not have formidable expectations but I was looking forward to playing online games and wanted at all costs to start playing Warcraft on the net again.
Well it is playable but lag is somewhat noticeable especially when you hero is not responding to your command in the middle of a fight! So it seems I’ll have to wait some more for seamless network play.
