About 1 week ago, Mauritius hosted the SADC Conference on Poverty with delagates staying in 5 star hotels, eating at banquets, travelling in limos, … Hopefully something good will come out of this; at least there was a buzz last week but it has quickly died out.
The really good thing that was set up is the Empowerment fund which is trying to help people start their own business or train people.

LOL I have been thinking about this quote for some time and wondering why people remain poor? :S But i think it’s simply because they do not get the opportunity to do something on their own or worse they do not like to take the chance… Hope the conference will really help…

You can teach a man to fish but the water get privatized. You can teach a man to fish while the water is overpoluted to the extend that eating a fish from that water is to sign your own death sentence. You can teach a man how to fish but he is unable to efford a fishing line…. The moral of the story is that there are many other factors that should be taken into consideration.
